MRI and Neurology service update

1.5 Tesla MRI machine

From Monday 5 August, our belvoed 1.5 Tesla MRI machine will be decommissioned, and we will begin the process of installing a state of the art brand new 3 Tesla MRI. This new MRI will allow us to obtain high quality brain images more rapidly, improving our quality of clinical service.

It is estimated this process will take 5 weeks, which means that we will not be able to perform MRIs for external or internal cases. Our neurology service is currently closed, and will begin reopening in November 2019. Spinal cases (and some dog brain pathology) can still be imaged using our CT scanner, and neurology cases can be discussed with our medicine and surgery services to see how we can be of assistance.
