Following graduation from Murdoch University, Jenni moved to the US to complete an internship at the Equine Medical Center of Ocala, Florida. Following this she remained in the US to undertake specialty training in large animal internal medicine at the University of Pennsylvania’s New Bolton Center. At the completion of this training, she was awarded the specialist qualification of Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine. Jenni then returned to Australia to begin her PhD at the University of Melbourne, undertaking research investigating new treatments and biomarkers for the systemic inflammatory response seen in horses with conditions such as colic, colitis and pleuropneumonia. She joined the Equine Centre’s internal medicine service in 2014. As she works towards completion of her PhD, Jenni’s main research interest is the systemic inflammatory response syndrome in horses. She also has interests in plant toxicities causing heart and muscle disease, as well as clinical antimicrobial use and bacterial resistance.
