Clinical Tutor in Emergency and Critical Care


Rachael graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2014 with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine on The Dean’s Honours List. Following graduation, she completed a rotating internship at an emergency and specialist hospital in Brisbane. Rachael then furthered her knowledge and skills in small animal emergency through an advanced internship in medicine and critical care in Melbourne. Rachael also holds a Honours degree in Animal and Veterinary Bioscience, with research completed in reproductive physiology. She has completed a graduate certificate in small animal ECC and became a member of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists (ANZCVS) by examination in the field of emergency and critical care medicine in 2018.

As a veterinarian, she has presented at national conferences, including ANZCVS Science Week, and has published in both Australian and International peer reviewed journals, with a focus on reproductive emergencies. Rachael enjoys the interface between emergency and critical care with internal medicine. She has a particular interest in endocrinological emergencies, as well as toxicities and envenomations.

Rachael enjoys hiking, camping and wildlife photography. She is an opportunistic bird watcher and a recreational tennis player. She lives with two English cocker spaniels, Maisy and Safina, and a troublesome Devon Rex named Trim.
